A 30th Birthday Dessert Table
Leyla's directions were shabby chic, pink and white with touches of black, and she wanted a dessert bar rather than a lolly buffet. She needed everything, all the decor, crockery, glassware and all the sweet stuff.
The decor was no problem. Hire Love by Loryn Loves has everything you see here available for hire, including the table and tablecloth, all cake stands, platters, lolly jars and wooden crates. I added a few custom lolly jar tags and food flags and the birthday girl let me have a few extra flowers from her dinner tables. Leyla wanted to include photos of her and her friends and family somewhere at the venue so we had all her photos printed in black and white to keep with the theme. We used them for the backdrop, hanging on twine with mini heart pegs, in a wooden frame.
I made the cake; a two tiered, layered sponge covered in buttercream. Topped with what can only be described as 'squiggles' of royal icing, in a paler shade of pink. A black ribbon and 30 cake topper to finish it all off. I filled the lolly jars with Tim Tams, chocolate buttons and marshmallows.
And then came Emma from Sweet Em's Cakes & Catering... I've been lucky to work with such great people for this party! Emma made all the little goodies, red velvet and fresh strawberry cupcakes, hedgehog and lemon slices, triple chocolate brownies and melting moments. I didn't get a taste but the birthday girl had guests emailing her the following day to rave about the sweet stuff. Emma is based in Point Cook. You can check her out on Facebook.
The beautiful pale pink macarons with white chocolate filling were made by Irfana at Itsyummytreats, also based in Point Cook. I really should have ordered more of these as they were a huge hit!
And that is that! I love it when something looks in real life like what it did in my head! I love my job!
