A Dessert Platter by Loryn Loves

A mini dessert bar, a cake platter, a sweets board... call it what you will but you've never seen it done like this before... a mini cake surrounded by yumminess!

I am sooo happy with the way this turned out, I think it will become a regular part at Loryn Loves.  It's just perfect for a small gathering, a high tea party or small baby shower.  When there's no need for a large dessert bar or sweetie table then this is the answer.

So this was something I made over the weekend for a friend's birthday party.  There were ten guests so it was just the right amount.  The small semi-naked cake would actually feed about twenty guests quite comfortably.  I added me-made chocolates, meringues and mini cupcakes... so guests were able to take a slice or just pick their way through all the different tastes...  nom nom!!!

Here are some pics... I think next time I'll add some fresh fruit and you could even add non homemade things like Tim Tams and marshmallows... oh the possibilities!

Unique Party Themes for Little Ladies

Miss Ivy Beth's second birthday is only four months away and to me that means planning must begin!   So with party on the brain I've spent some time browsing online for interesting and new ideas.  I don't like to do anything that's been done too much already so I'm on the hunt for unique and unusual colours, themes and decor details.   Here are some of my faves...  click on the images to see all the party details.

I think this is one of my all time favourite parties.  The ultimate sleepover created by Ivy & Oak... Do yourself a favour and click on this link to see all the party details... no words...

This 'Sweet as Pie' party is just that... Sweet as!  That cake is adorable and I love the pie pops.  I spy the ceramic white cake stand that Loryn Loves has available to hire, you can thread your own coloured ribbon through to match your colour scheme.

Oh Wow!  The colours, the styling, the cake... oh the cake!  This is a really sweet party theme based on this family's motto of 'All good things are wild and free'...

I love this Watermelon party I found on Kara's Party Ideas.  Such a summery and fresh theme idea.  Great colours too.  I particularly love the watermelon lollipops.

Miss Ivy will have to wait a few years before we can do this but what a great idea... cupcake decorating parties...  I love the cute aprons for the little guests.  If you're interested in doing this for your little one then take a look at my Workshops page...
